Position – Associate Professor, University of Texas, Rio Grande Valley

The University of Texas, Rio Grande Valley is seeking applicants for an Associate Professor of Anthropology position beginning in the 2022-2023 academic year. They seek an archaeologist with a research focus on North America. Specific area of temporal focus is open (from the peopling of the Americas through the historical era to the present), as is analytical expertise. Preference will be given to candidates with a demonstrated record of community-engaged archaeology and the potential to contribute to our existing programs and develop new initiatives for local research and outreach through the CHAPS (Community Historical Archaeology Program with Schools) program. We are particularly interested in candidates who can teach from a decolonial and/or indigenous perspective. Applicants should have an active program of research and scholarly publications, demonstrated potential for teaching excellence with innovative course delivery, and demonstrated potential for funded research. Applicants do not need to hold Associate Professor (tenure) status in an academic program in their current position but should be able to demonstrate scholarly credentials commensurate with our tenure and promotion standards.
