Position – Project Archaeologist, St. Mary’s College of Maryland

St. Mary's College of Maryland seeks a Project Director/Archaeologist for projects focused on Maryland and Virginia's storied Potomac and Rappahannock river valleys. This one-year contingent position is full-time, with likelihood of a two-year extension. The Project Director/Archaeologist will be responsible for assisting with the management of archaeological projects, including Phase I and II surveys, collections surveys, and research projects undertaken in southern Maryland and Virginia’s Northern Neck. Duties include direct supervision and coordination of field and laboratory crews, including undergraduate students, background research, data analysis and management, and report writing and involves ongoing consultation with/working for Federally- and state-recognized tribes, descendant communities, and local communities.
