Position – Archeological Assistant

POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

The Arkansas Archeological Survey (http://archeology.uark.edu) invites applications for a three-year (with possible extension) full-time position as Archeological Assistant to begin as soon as possible. This position is based at our University of Arkansas-Monticello research station (Monticello AR).

Job Description: Duties include fieldwork (some requiring in-state travel), collections processing and data analysis, record keeping, supervising volunteers in the laboratory and the field, and interaction with visitors and callers to the Station, all under the direction of the Research Station Archeologist.

Minimum qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in anthropology or a related field
  • Archeological field experience in North America, east of the Rocky Mountains
  • Archeological lab experience
  • Experience in working with archeological records and collections

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with the archeology of Southeastern North America
  • Experience working with the public

Salary: $24,000 with full benefits.
