POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
The Arkansas Archeological Survey invites applications for a three-year (with possible extension) full-time position as Archeological Assistant to begin as soon as possible. This position is based at our Southern Arkansas University research station (Magnolia AR).
Job Description: Duties include fieldwork (requiring in-state travel), data analysis, collections processing, record keeping, supervising volunteers in the laboratory and the field, and interaction with visitors and callers to the Station, all under the direction of the Research Station Archeologist.
Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in anthropology or a related field and archeological field experience in North America east of the Rocky Mountains, experience in working with archeological collections and data, and knowledge of basic office software applications is required, as is the ability to work independently and meet internal deadlines. Experience with the archeology and history of the region is preferred but not a requirement.
Salary: $24,000 with full benefits.
Starting Date: October 3, 2016 or sooner, if possible.
