President Waselkov responds to Georgia SB 346

This week, SEAC President Dr. Gregory Waselkov penned a letter to Georgia Representative Christian Coomer in response to Georgia Senate Bill 346.

The bill, if passed, would relieve Georgia Department of Transportation from the responsibility to do environmental reviews prior to state-funded projects costing less than $100 million with obvious detrimental effects to our cultural heritage. In response, we have seen a strong outpouring of calls to stop the bill, including Dr. Waselkov's letter posted below.

If you have not done so, please take a moment to sign the online petition initiated by the Society for Georgia Archaeology at Oppose SB 346.

More information about the bill, including a list of representatives and their emails can be found at SGA's Save our Sites page.
