Position – Postdoctoral Associate in Program Assessment

Postdoctoral Associate 124180 in Program Assessment

The University of West Florida, Florida Public Archaeology Network (FPAN) invites applicants to fill a two-year post-doctoral research fellowship position in heritage education and engagement program assessment/evaluation. FPAN is a unit within the Division of Anthropology and Archaeology of the College of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities, located in downtown Pensacola. For more information consult www.fpan.us.

FPAN’s stated goal is to stem the deterioration of the state’s buried past. Toward this end, FPAN staff develop and deliver a variety of programs intended to engage and educate audiences about Florida’s archaeological past in the belief that an informed populace will make preservation-minded decisions about the protection and study of archaeological resources. But are our programs having the desired effect? We expect the incumbent in this position to 1) analyze FPAN’s existing education, outreach, and engagement programs to identify appropriate assessment methods, 2) conduct a study of program effectiveness, and 3) evaluate audiences reached (or not reached) to identify socio-cultural, economic, and regional underserved groups. The long-term goal is to create strategies to gather data that can be used to develop, change, or even phase out programs to better meet FPAN’s goal of archaeological resource preservation in Florida.

The successful candidate will be familiar with program assessment/evaluation methods, social science and/or education theory, identification and/or development of assessment measures, and data analysis and extrapolation. The scholar will have completed a doctoral program in Anthropology, Sociology, Assessment and Measurement, Statistics, Education, or other relevant field of study.

Minimum Qualifications: Doctoral degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service.

Salary: $45,000 - $55,000

Applications must be submitted electronically at https://jobs.uwf.edu. The preferred response date for the posting is 2/15/16 but the posting will remain open until filled.
