Professor of Archaeology (Tenure Track, Open Rank)

The Department of Anthropology (www.anthro.psu.edu) at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for a tenure track position in archaeology starting in August 2016. Rank is open.

We seek an outstanding archaeologist whose interests and skills are consistent with the Anthropology Department`s integrative, scientific, and quantitative approach to research, and its long tradition of sociopolitical, population, ecological, and evolutionary research.  Candidates’ areas of interest might include (but are not limited to): the development of sociopolitical complexity, food production, economic interaction, population structure and change, anthropogenic environments, and complex adaptive systems.  Candidates must be engaged in active field and laboratory research that complements existing strengths in our program.

Methodological expertise is open.  The successful candidate must demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, an ability to obtain external funding, and a strong publication record.

We encourage collaborative research projects within the department and affiliation, when possible, with a diverse array of inter-disciplinary life-science, environmental, and population-related research centers and programs on campus (e.g., Population Research Institute [www.pop.psu.edu], Penn State Institutes of Energy and the Environment [www.psiee.psu.edu]; Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences [www.huck.psu.edu/content/research], and Human Dimensions of Natural Resources and the Environment [agsci.psu.edu/hdnre].
