Position: Society/Survey Liaison at Arkansas Archeological Survey

Summary Of Job Duties

The Society/Survey Liaison is responsible for coordination of public archeology activities between the Arkansas Archeological Survey and the avocational Arkansas Archeological Society. These responsibilities include communications, liaison with Survey research stations and local avocational archeologists, engagement with and outreach to the statewide Society Executive Board, local Society chapters around the state, and the Society-based Board of Advisors. Additionally, the Liaison leads coordination of the annual events jointly organized between the Survey, the Society, and external organizations, and co-administers the Arkansas Site Stewardship Program with the State Archeologist and Site Stewardship Committee Chair. The Society/Survey Liaison also maintains Society mailings, records, and archival materials at the Survey Coordinating Office in Fayetteville.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.A./B.S. degree from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Experience with avocational archeological, citizen science, and/or volunteer organizations
  • Experience planning events
  • Experience managing social media and creating digital newsletters
  • Valid Driver’s License and ability to travel, including several weeks during the Annual Training Program
