Position – Director, Arkansas Archeological Survey

The Arkansas Archeological Survey (AAS) invites applications for a permanent, full-time position as Director to begin July 1, 2021, or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is based at the AAS Coordinating Office, located on the University of Arkansas agricultural complex just north of the main campus. The Director is expected to provide leadership to AAS archeologists in the pursuit of archeological research, public education, and the preservation of Arkansas’s archeological heritage. The duties include preparation and oversight of budgets, grants and contracts, organizational planning, staff supervision, development of partnerships with universities and state agencies, fund raising, and consultation with descendant communities. The Director will facilitate research and publication opportunities and work closely with the Department of Anthropology and the Environmental Dynamics Program at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. The Director will have a Research Faculty title in the Department of Anthropology with an opportunity for teaching and directing graduate research.
