Position –Assistant Professor, University of Arkansas (Archaeology of Complex Socio-Ecological Systems, Americas)

The Department of Anthropology at the University of Arkansas, invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in Anthropology. We seek candidates with demonstrated research and teaching expertise in the archaeology of complex socio-ecological systems with a focus on the indigenous societies of Northern, Central, or South America. We seek a candidate who can help build a programmatic focus in Environmental Archaeology, broadly construed, by conducting theoretically informed and methodologically rigorous teaching and research addressing themes such as: Human mobility, Landscape archaeology, Subsistence economies, Environmental engineering, and Interconnected socio-ecological networks. Methodological foci include but are not limited to: Biochemical or geochemical analyses (e.g., stable isotopes), Geospatial, digital, and/or modeling approaches, Palaeoethnobotany, zooarchaeology, palynology, dendrochronology, or similar, Materials analyses, and Geoarchaeological analyses.
