Call for Nominations: Patty Jo Watson Award

In 2012, the Southeastern Archaeological Conference (SEAC) established the Patty Jo Watson Award for best article or book chapter on Southeastern Archaeology. Patty Jo Watson, a renowned American archaeologist who has worked extensively on the pre-Columbian Southeastern United States, not only set new standards in the practice of archaeology, but is also one of America’s best regarded scientists. This award honors her vast contributions to Southeastern archaeology.

Eligibility

Any articles or book chapters in edited volumes on Southeastern archaeology are eligible. All nominations for the 2014 award must have a 2013 copyright date. All articles published in Southeastern Archaeology during 2013 are automatically nominated.

Nominations

Nominations can be made by authors, journal editors, volume editors, or publishers. Nominations are due by July 15, 2014. To make a nomination please send a PDF electronic copy of the publication to the Secretary of SEAC, Ann Cordell (Florida Museum of Natural History, Dickinson Hall, University of Florida, PO Box 117800, Gainesville, FL 32611-7800) at cordell@flmnh.ufl.edu.

Award

The award will be presented at the annual meeting of SEAC during the Business Meeting when other awards are also presented.
