Calling all students! Please consider applying for the Charles Hudson Award this fall! The award amount is $1000, which can be used for a number of research and scholarly purposes, including travel, books, tuition, and fees. See more about the award below.
The Charles Hudson Award is intended to recognize and support students who carry out high-quality research on the social history of the Southeastern United States using ethnohistory, archaeology, history, linguistics, or oral traditions. Preference is given to proposals that draw on more than one of these methods or that link the people known only through archaeology to more recent Indigenous people. Proposals and letters of support should be submitted by Monday, October 20, 2025, to the Hudson Award committee chair, Gabrielle Purcell (gcpurcell@sc.edu). Late or incomplete proposals will NOT be accepted.
