Position – Assistant/Associate Professor of Anthropology

The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Middle Tennessee State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position (#129290) in Anthropology at the assistant/associate professor rank. The position start date is August 1, 2016. The successful candidate will demonstrate active research in Southeastern US Prehistory, along with a willingness to develop and direct a locally-based summer archaeology field program. Candidates will hold a Ph.D. in Anthropology and demonstrate excellence in and commitment to both scholarly research and teaching. Ability to teach a broad range of offerings in anthropology is essential, including World Prehistory, Introduction to Archaeology, Archaeological Methods, and topical courses in the disciplinary area.

Our undergraduate anthropology program emphasizes the four-field approach, fieldwork and cross-cultural experience with seven full-time faculty and 75 undergraduate majors
